Governor’s Capital Construction Recommendations Reflect Significant Reduction

CHEYENNE, Wyo., November 26, 2007 - Governor Dave Freudenthal today released his capital construction recommendations for the 2009-2010 biennium. The governor’s recommendations reflect a significant reduction in the capital construction requests from state agencies, the University of Wyoming and community colleges.

Original agency requests total $500.2 million with $348.4 million being general fund dollars.

The governor recommended $152.8 million of general fund for construction. The largest single item was $55 million for the College of Business at the University of Wyoming. The other large item is $54.8 million for major maintenance efforts in state government, the University of Wyoming and community college facilities throughout Wyoming

According to Freudenthal, “The recommendations reflect a realistic allocation of limited resources to the most logical and pressing projects.”

Attached is a summary of the original requests, the actions taken by the State Building Commission and the Governor’s Budget Recommendation to the Wyoming Legislature.
